Singapore, VOI News - The Solo Batik Carnival (SBC) in Singapore that took place on February 19 to 21 has been regarded as a success. “We were in the local news,” said Mufti Rahardjo, BSC leader. Mufti was also invited for lunch by the Singaporean State Council. “The invitees are the leaders of the groups which were considered to have given an impressive performance.” The carnival was held twice, on February 19 as a presentation to the Singaporean Prime Minister and February 20 to the Singaporean president.
“The performances were three-minutes long,” Mufti said. The festival was followed by 7.400 people from 40 countries. The Surakarta Tourism Office chief Purnomo Subagyo will maintain the carnival as one of Surakarta’s icons. A third carnival will be organized this June. “We want to hold an SBC every year if possible,” Purnomo said. ti
