President SBY watches "Diane Warren Greatest Hits"

Jakarta, VOI News - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono here on Saturday night enjoyed the Java Jazz music scene following last week`s tense political atmosphere over the Bank Century bailout case. The president who was among others accompanied by First Lady Ani Yudhoyono and their youngest son, Edhhie Baskoro, watched the Java Jazz music concert featuring songs by Diane Warren in Hall D2, Jakarta Fair arena in Kemayoran.

Magnitude 6.5 earthquake shakes Sumatra

Jakarta, VOI News - A magnitude-6.5 undersea earthquake shook the western shore of Sumatra island late night Friday, causing panic but no casualties or damage, an official said. The quake struck 119 kilometers southeast of Pagai Selatan, an island off the western coast of Sumatra, Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency official Gian Ginanjar said.

Qory Sandioriva: The new Putri Indonesia

The criticism she has received for “misrepresenting” her home province of Aceh has failed to discourage newly crowned Putri Indonesia 2009 Qory Sandioriva.

Qory, the first woman representing the strongly Islamic region of Aceh to win the title, made no apology for publicly rejecting the jilbab or Muslim headscarf during the pageant’s final night in Jakarta, playing it down as a “misunderstanding”.
