United States Secret Service Meet Bali Police

Jakarta, VOI NewsFifteen security personnel from the United States Secret Service held a meeting on Friday (12/3) with Bali Provincial Police officers to discuss security for US presidential entourage during the state visit of President Barack Obama scheduled later this month. The closed meeting was held at the Bali Police headquarters police spokesman informed earlier this week that US Secret Service have started inspection on several sites in the island slated to be visited by President Obama. In an unusual security protocol, reporters were barred from the main building of the Bali Police Headquarters where they regularly moved freely in the compound and no opportunity given by the US security team for local press to ask questions about the meeting.

President Yudhoyono leaves for Australia

Jakarta, VOI News - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and Madame Ani Yudhoyono Monday night at 10.05 pm left for Australia for a state visit until Thursday and for Papua New Guinea after that.  The President and party left Halim Perdanakusuma airport aboard a presidential plane. They are expected to arrive at Fairbaim airbase in Canberra at 9am on Tuesday. Included in the presidential entourage were Foreign Minister Marty Natalegawa, Chief Economic Minister Hatta Rajasa, Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Andi Mallarangeng, Cabinet Secretary Dipo Alam, Environment Minister Muhammad Gusti Hatta, Trade Minister Marie Elka Pangestu, Defense Minister Purnomo Yusgiantoro and Investment Coordinating Board chief Gita Wirjawan.

President and Vice President declare their wealth

Jakarta, VOI News  - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and Vice President Boediono on Friday morning at the Presidential Office in Jakarta made public their wealth which is required of them as government officials. Flanked by acting chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK)  Tumpak Hatorangan Pangabean, President Yudhoyono first presented a summary of his wealth which on November 23, 2009 reached a total of Rp7,616,270,204 plus 269,703 US dollars, which were an increase compared with an earlier report on May 14, 2009, totaling Rp6,848,049,611 plus 246,389 dollars. The President said his wealth included real property land and buildings Rp2,408,620,000, movable property and means of transportation Rp502,500,000, precious metal, precious stones, art objects and antiques, and other movable property Rp851,015,000.  "No securities, but demand deposits the equivalent of  Rp3,854,135,204. No debts," he said.

Indonesia President to Address Nation on Bank Bailout

Jakarta, VOI News - Indonesia’s president is expected to address the nation Thursday in a bid to save his fragile coalition after parliament called for a criminal probe into a controversial bank bailout two years ago. “The president will deliver a speech at 8:00 pm (1300 GMT) at the state palace,” presidential spokesman Julian Aldrin Pasha said without giving further details.

Procedures on Indonesian President and VP Removal from Office

Jakarta, VOI News - After a dynamic meeting, the Ad Hoc committee of the People's Consultative Assembly has come up with Draft Decision of the Indonesian Assembly regarding the Assembly Provisions and Ethics. The draft arranges the procedure to dismiss the president and/or vice president within their time of administration. This matter is arranged in Chapter XVII Article 102-105, which states the following procedure:

SBY special staffs meet Amien to discuss Century

Jakarta, VOI News - Two special staffs of President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, Andi Arief and Velix Wanggai, met on Saturday with former People's Consultative Assembly chairman Amien Rais to discuss the Bank Century bailout inquiry. The two met with Amien at the Executive Lounge of the Jakarta International Soekarno-Hatta Airport when the latter was waiting for his flight to return to his hometown, Yogyakarta.
