Agriculture Researchers in the World to Conduct Research on plant biodiversity

Bogor  VOI NewsAgriculture Ministry and   Mekarsari Tourism Park plan to conduct research  about plant biodiversity  with  some researchers  from many countries in March 2010. This is the right way  to promote Mekarsari Tourism Park Bogor in International world, especially  for researchers. Besides,Mekarsari Tourism Park has  thousands of plantations to be developed. Head of public Relations of Mekarsari Tourism Park, Chatrine Da to Voice Of Indonesia in Bogor West Java today said Mekarsari Tourism Park has collected more than one thousand and five hundreds various plants in which  to develop  the potential plants.

Final Evacuation of West Java's Landslide Victims

Bandung, VOI News - Head of West Java’s natural disaster management Udjwala Prana Sigit said the evacuation process of Tuesday’s landslide victims would be decided on Sunday morning.  "Whether the evacuation process will be continued or not will be decided this Sunday morning," he told reporters at the landslide-hit tea plantation area here. On Monday, the authorized persons, victims’ families, community leaders and members of local Council of Ulemas (MUI) would attend a meeting for talks about the end of evacuation, he said.

Earthquake Science Causes Alarm, Says West Sumatra Governor

Padang, VOI News - West Sumatra governor Marlis Rahman is unhappy about media reports that the province could be hit with a magnitude 8.9 earthquake. “Scientific research for academic consumption would be better if it were just published in scientific journals instead of the media, especially local media,” he told reporters Friday as quoted on vivanews.com.

Hopes Fade for More Survivors in Indonesian Landslide

Jakarta, VOI News - A rescue official said Friday there was only a slim chance that more survivors would be found in the landslide that struck a West Java tea plantation this week, killing at least 23 people. More than 1,000 rescuers with sniffer dogs have been searching the plantation near the village of Ciwidey after Tuesday’s landslide crushed homes, offices and a processing plant.  “We have started the rescue effort again today. We’ve found 23 bodies so far, and there are 23 people who are believed to still be missing,” Disaster Management Agency spokesman Priyadi Kardono said. “Their chances for survival are slim,” he said.

Rescuers Battle in Search for Bandung Mudslide Survivors

Bandung, VOI News - Soldiers, police and other rescue workers who bagged 16 corpses pulled from the sticky muck that flattened homes on Tuesday were forced to suspend their search for survivors by Wednesday afternoon, after more downpours and mounds of mud blocked access to the tea-plantation area in Pasir Jambu subdistrict.

Landslide kills 72 at West Java tea plantation

Bandung, VOI News - A landslide that hit the Dewata tea plantation area in Tenjolaya village, Pasirjambu subdistrict, Bandung district , on Tuesday killed at least 72 people.  Head of Bandung district’s disaster management and refugee coordinating agency, Sofyan Nataprawira, said Tuesday evening five of the victims had been evacuated but 67 others were still buried under the soil of the landslide. The buried victims consisted of 47 people in the plantation area, 10 in the plantation` offices, and 15 in the plantation’s factory. Search and rescue workers had so far found five victims but the others were still being searched for, he said.
