OPEC Oil Ministers decide leave output unchanged

Vienna, AP - OPEC oil ministers opted to keep their output targets unchanged in a bid to keep prices at present levels and send a message of stability to energy-hungry economies struggling to emerge from recession.

At Least 41 Dead in Turkey Quake

Istanbul, VOI News - A magnitude 6.0 earthquake killed 41 villagers in eastern Turkey early on Monday, local officials said, as rescuers worked to free survivors trapped under the rubble. The quake woke residents from their sleep when it struck at 4:32 am local time (0232 GMT), centred on the sparsely populated area of Basyurt in Elazig province. It was followed by 30 minor aftershocks.

BBC says it will cut radio stations, Web coverage

London, VOI News - The BBC said Tuesday it will drop two of its Radio stations and scale back its Web spending as part of a wide-ranging revamp at the 88-year-old media giant. The broadcaster's plans include cutting both 6 Music station, aimed at alternative music listeners, and Asian Network, geared toward Britons of south Asian descent, as it also halves the number of Web pages it hosts. Spending will be cut by 25 percent.

Report: BBC to shut part of Web site service

London, VOI News - The BBC will shut part of its Web site and close two Radio stations in order to sharply reduce spending, a British newspaper reported Friday. The paper also says spending on American programming will be reduced when the overhaul is announced next month. BBC officials Friday refused to comment.

Danish PM announces major government reshuffle

Stockholm, VOI News - Danish Prime Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen on Tuesday announced a major cabinet reshuffle, according to reports reaching here from Copenhagen. Conservative Party Leader Lene Espersen replaced Per Stig Moller as Foreign Minister and the latter was named Minister for Culutre, the Danish daily Politiken Online reported. Ulla Tornas was removed from the position of the Development Aid Minister while Soren Pind took her place. Claus Hjort Frederiksen remained to be the Finance Minister, said the report, adding that Brian Mikkelsen was replaced as the Justice Minister by Lars Barfoed. Mikkelsen is to act as the Minister of Economy and Trade.

200 Years Commemoration of Frederic Chopin

Jakarta, VOI News, - To commmorate 200th anniversary of the world's composer Frederic Chopin, various events have been held not only in Poland but also in Indonesia. Frederic Chopin is a talented composer who was known by the world community after the era of Mozart. A concerto for piano and orchestra each in E minor and F minor created during the years of 1829-1830 are some of Chopin's works loved by many people in the world.  Polish Ambassador to Indonesia Thomas Lukaszuk in an interview with the Voice Of Indonesia in Jakarta said that through the works of music, Frederic Chopin has introduced Poland to the world.
