THE ARAB ISLAMIC AMERICAN SUMMIT: A PARTNERSHIP MESSAGE OF ISLAMIC WORLD WITH THE US

On Sunday, May 21, 2017, Indonesian President Joko Widodo at the Arab Islamic American Summit in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia said that the meeting has an important meaning to send a partnership message of Islamic world with the United States. In addition to eliminating the perception of the United States that is often considered to view Islam as an enemy, this meeting should be able to increase cooperation in combating terrorism and simultaneously sending a message of peace to the world. Currently, the threat of radicalism and terrorism occurs anywhere, and Indonesia is one of the victims of the world’s terrorism acts.

Terrorism is a coordinated attack aimed at arousing the feeling of terror against a group of people. The terrorist acts are not subject to normal warfare procedures. Take for example, the incidental time of its execution with random target, often civilians. Meanwhile, radicalism is a radical understanding or ideology in politics that wants political or social change or renewal in a violent or drastic way, in other words, an extreme attitude in the political ideology. As a result, many victims have fallen, including the Muslims. The number is probably even the most, because of the conflict accompanied by radicalism and terrorism. Millions of Muslims must leave their countries to seek a safer life in other countries. The younger generations of Muslim refugees grow up with uncertainty about their future. No wonder there are young people who tend to be frustrated and rebellious. Because the circumstances they are experiencing are not what they should be receiving. While in other parts of the world, teenagers are having fun and enjoy their life as it should be. No wonder the younger generations who become victims of the conflict grow up to become extremists and new radicals. They are easy to be future young terrorists. This is not an easy homework for the leaders of the Arab and Islamic countries with the US President Donald Trump, as revealed in the Arab Islamic American Summit in Riyadh Saudi Arabia.
