12 Indonesian Films will be played in Tokyo International Film Festival

The 29th Tokyo International Film Festival will be held on October 25th to November 3rd. interestingly, in this year implementation, there are 12 Indonesian Films will be played in the international festival. 11 Indonesian films will be played in Crosscut Asia section; while 1 another film will be played in Asian Future section. The Crosscut Asia Category will play various Asian films focusing on a country, director, actor, or a certain theme. In this Tokyo International Film Festival this year, Crosscut Asia selected Indonesia as its focus with theme “Colourful Indonesia”.
“Athirah” will be played in Crosscut Asia section along with 10 other Indonesian Films . The film directed by Riri Riza will be released in theaters on September 29th . Besides “Athirah”, Crosscut Asia will also play "Catatan Dodol Calon Dokter" which is directed by Ifa Isfansyah. The film starring by Adipati Dolken, Tika Bravani, and Aurelie Moeremans will play a premiere on October 27th 2016. Then, there is also a musical film entitled "Ini Kisah Tiga Dara" which is directed by Nia Dinata and starring by Shanty Paredes, Tara Basro, Tatyana Akman, and senior actress Titiek Puspa . The film "Ini Kisah Tiga Dara” is inspired by a phenomenal film made by Usmar Ismail entitled "Tiga Dara" which was released in 1956 . The newest Nia Dinata’s film was played on September 1st .
Besides those 3 films, Crosscut Asia also shows “Filosofi Kopi” (2015) directed by Angga Dwimas Sasongko, "Sendiri Diana Sendiri" (2015) directed by Kamila Andini, "Fiksi" (2013) directed by Mouly Surya, and "Someone's Wife in the Boat of Someone's Husband" (2013) directed by Edwin . Three films directed by Teddy Soeriaatmadja namely "About a Woman" (2014), "Something in the Way" (2013), and "Lovely Man" (2011 also included the category . One of old films with restored version "Lewat Djam Malam" (1954) directed by Usmar Ismail is chosen to be played in Crosscut Asia. Besides those 11 films, one of Indonesian films is chosen to play in Asian Future section entitled “Salawaku” directed by Pritagita Arianegara. The film is about two people’s journey with Seram Island in Moluccas as a background.
