Foreign Affairs Ministry and UGM reviewing future of digital diplomacy

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in cooperation with experts from the Center for Digital Society Universitas Gadjah Mada -UGM held a joint study on the future of digital diplomacy for Indonesia. More than 30 experts in diplomacy and information communication technology, as well as 100 observers, consultants, academics, and foreign diplomats participated in the Experts Meeting on Diplomacy, which was held in the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences of UGM on Wednesday. Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister, AM Fachir said at a press conference that diplomacy must be able to answer the digital challenges because Indonesian current digital world has changed the participants, as well as encouraged the spirit of transparency. Thus, current diplomacy should seize the space of public information and provide information quickly, accurately and correctly. (Antara)


Jakarta geopolitical forum to discuss world peace

Jakarta Geopolitical Forum -JGF held by the Indonesian National Resilience Institute -Lemhanas from May 18-20, 2017 discusses a number of major themes, one of which is world security and peace. It will involve experts and academics from several countries. Lemhanas Governor, Agus Widjojo said in Jakarta on Wednesday that the Jakarta Geopolitical Forum will also discuss the issues of world economic development, social and humanitarian issues, as well as terrorism, radicalism and migration. He views that the event is the first forum in the world and is a response of the institution in dealing with the development of the world. The forum is a medium for exchanging ideas, also sharing experiences among geopolitics academics and experts.
