Indonesia is a guest country at the prestigious cultural arts festival the Europalia Festival on 10 October 2017 to 21 January 2018 in 8 European Countries. In a press briefing held at the National Museum in Jakarta on Tuesday, July 11, 2017, Europalia Scientific Expert Team member Idham Setyadi explained that the Europalia Festival is one of the efforts of cultural diplomacy in nurturing relations between Indonesia and Europe.  According to him, through this festival Indonesia will show its vision. In this festival, Indonesia not only show the beauty of Indonesia, but also thoughts and ideas from Indonesia to be displayed.

"The interesting thing for them is actually the things that answer their questions about diversity. Indonesia is more diverse than the countries in Europe. How to maintain the integrity of a diverse country, it is such questions that want to be answered not only through exhibitions but also various artistic performances, discussions and others."

Idham Setyadi further explained, Indonesia's diversity will be displayed through 400 artifacts to be brought there. The collection is the result of an agreement between the Europalian  and the Indonesian curator. The exhibition of ancestors became one of the main focuses that will be brought to the Europalia Festival. The Ancestor exhibition displays the diverse ways in which Indonesian society perceives ancestors. Various traditions such as, carnival, home coming (mudik) and nyadran will also be displayed in Europe. Artifacts brought from a collection of museums National, Sumatra, Papua and so forth// Sekar
