French Ambassador to Indonesia, Jean-Charles Berthonnet is expecting that Indonesia and France can work harder to increase stronger cooperation between the two countries. This was stated on the sidelines of the Bastille Day Commemoration that took place in Jakarta on Friday. He highlighted the considerable distance between France and Indonesia which makes it difficult for French businesspeople to get to know Indonesia. Meanwhile, on the other hand, he also hopes that the government of  Indonesia can accommodate the needs of the French investors by creating a flexible regulation for France to invest in Indonesia.

“…Both sides have to work hard. I think first of all, Indonesia is very far away from France so that French companies that do not know exactly what is the Indonesian market, so they have to come here more often to understand how it works. And on the Indonesian side, maybe you could change some regulations; make the business climate more flexible in order to facilitate the investment of the French companies,”  he said.

Furthermore, Ambassador Jean-Charles Berthonnet (dibaca : zyang charls bertone) also admires Indonesia. He views that Indonesia is a country that is very diverse and open to investment from France. In addition, Indonesia also has a good climate of tolerance in which religious and ethnic diversity can be managed positively. He also expressed his wish to be able to visit various regions in Indonesia to explore tourism potentials as well as to discover the potential for further expansion of cooperation between Indonesia and France.
