VP Jusuf Kalla meets Kazakhstan senate

Indonesian Vice President Jusuf Kalla met with the Senate of Kazakhstan in Astana on Monday, September 11th.  Chairman of Kazakhstan’s senate, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev accepted VP Jusuf Kalla and his entourage. Kalla thanked the welcome and congratulated Kazakhstan for the successful first Summit on Science and Technology of Organization of Islamic Cooperation in Astana. In the meeting, VP Kalla said that Indonesia and Kazakhstan can benefit from increasing partnerships in economy, investments and educations. The Vice President also met with Kazakhstan's Prime Minister Bakytzhan Sagintayev in Astana, September 9th. VP Jusuf Kalla said there are potentials for Indonesia to increase import-export activities with Kazakhstan. The trade potentials include commodities like flour, palm oil, coffee and tea. He said that Indonesia and Kazakhstan trade partnership has been minimal. This is also due to distance. But there is potential to boost export and import with Kazakhstan. (Tempo)

 

S. Korea tourist visit to Indonesia up 45.2 percent

The Indonesian Embassy in Seoul, South Korea reported on Monday, September 11th that the number of South Korean tourists visiting Indonesia in 2017 has increased by 45.2 percent. The data released by Korea Tourism Organization -KTO showed that 2.4 million South Koreans traveled overseas as of July, an increase of 14.5 percent compared to last year. According to the Embassy, one of the factors that increase the number of visits to Indonesia is the rising popularity of the TV program 'Young Kitchen', aired by TvN from March to May this year. One of the episodes featured and was shot in Lombok. According to embassy staff M. Aji Surya, TV shows are a great promotional tool for tourism because "the people of South Korea are amazed by Indonesia's beauty and uniqueness. The charm makes them want to spend their holidays in Indonesia. South Koreans will have a long holiday in October. The number of outbound tourists is expected to rise, and visits to Indonesia are likely to increase as well. (Tempo)
